Sony PS3 outsells Xbox 360 in Europe says Sony

Sony held the PlayStation Day Conference in London yesterday. One short key message from the event is that the Sony PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 in Europe.

Apparently the Sony PS3 has outsold the Xbox 360 since October 2007. Sony sold 5 million PS3 consoles across Europe. Read more

Singstar for Sony PS3 Details

Singstar for the Sony PS3 will be launching on May 20th in the United States. The music game is already on the market in Europe. The Sony Playstation Blog revealed some details of the PS3 Singstar launch in the U.S. on May 20th.

In addition to the 30 songs on the Singstar PS3 disc, the U.S. SingStore will have approximately 200 downloadable songs priced each at $1.49. With each song you also get a video of the performing artist. Sony plans to publish 25 to 50 new songs to the SingStore every month. Read more

echochrome is supposed to be available in the full version today at the Playstation store for the Sony PS3 and the Sony PSP. Both versions will be available for $9.99.

echochrome is one of these games that intrigues a certain group of gamers and does nothing for everybody else.
The puzzle game with rather simple graphics is based on the concepts of the famous MC Escher artwork, which explores infinity, architecture and impossible constructions. Read more

Sony PS3 Grand Theft Auto IV Bundle unveiled

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today confirmed the release of an official Grand Theft Auto IV bundle exclusively for the Sony PS3 console.

The GTA IV PS3 bundle will be available on April 29th.
It will consist of a PLAYSTATION 3 40GB model, a SIXAXIS wireless controller and a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest title in the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto franchise. Read more

Mortal Combat vs. DC Universe Coming to PS3 and Xbox 360

Midway has announced a new game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 game consoles that is scheduled to ship this fall called Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. The premise of the game sounds interesting with a cataclysmic force merging the two universes.

The game has heroes and villains from both universes fighting together and against each other. The game will have Mortal Kombat characters like Scorpion and Sub Zero battling against Superman and Batman as well as other characters. Read more

Sony plans Video Download Service on Sony PS3

The LA Times reports that Sony is in negotiations with Studios over video content licensing.

The anonymous tipsters told the paper that Sony might be launching a Movie on Demand service on the PS3 as early as this Summer.

Ben Heck unveiled the cool PS3 Laptop a week ago. The Playstation 3 Portable has a 60GB Sony PS3 hardware inside and features a 17 inch HD Ready display. Measurements are 17x13.75x3 inches and the weight is 16 pounds.

Xbox 360 outsells Sony PS3 again

The latest video game sales data for the month of May are tremendous. Somehow consumers managed to get their hands on 721,000 Wii consoles - I wonder where they found these.

Microsoft can celebrate again as they overtook the Sony PS3 again in March. In February Sony outsold the Xbox 360 with the PS3. Microsoft was saying back then that supply issues damped the Xbox 360 sales. In March supply was stable again. Read more

Sony released this week the Sony PS3 Firmware 2.30 featuring DTS HD Master Audio for Blu-ray Movies. Tweaktown tested the new high quality audio feature of the PS3 and published a report.

Sony announced today that the highly anticipated appetizer of Gran Turismo 5 is shipping today to retailers in North America. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for the Sony PS3 will be available for download from the Playstation Store starting this Thursday April 17th.

The Blu-ray version of GT5: Prologue will include an exclusive behind-the-scenes HD video feature called "Beyond the Apex," offering a closer look at the franchise's history. Sony PS3 Firmware 2.30 and new Playstation Store available

As promised Sony launched today the new Playstation store and released the latest firmware 2.30 for the PS3.

The big news in the Sony PS3 firmware 2.30 is the support for Blu-ray Disc DTS-HD audio. DTS-HD can deliver audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master at high variable bit rates. The codec can deliver up to 7.1 audio at 96k/24-bit. Read more

Konami already announced the limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 Sony PS3 console in Japan. It is apparently already sold out there. The Sony Playstation blog has now revealed that the the MGS4 mate grey Sony PS3 console will also be available in the United States.

Sony tries to make the most out of the Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots release and will offer a Standard Edition, Limited Edition Sony PS3 MGS4 Bundle and the Limited Edition PLAYSTATION 3 Hardware Bundle (with the grey PS3). Read more
